How to use shell feature on one face

First of all, I am new to Onshape. This is my second project.
I am designing a guitar body, and I want to hollow out a cavity for electronics, and the shell feature seems like the best option. The problem is shell hollows out the whole model like this.
I want it to be hollow only below the selected face. Maybe extrude is a better option? The problem with extrude was I couldn't figure out how to shrink non-proportionally so the thickness is the same around the edge of the cavity.
