Mount a spoiler on my CAD car model -Question

nick_giulianinick_giuliani Member Posts: 2
Hello everyone, my name is Nick. I am using the program for my IBDP EE. Because I am new to the software, I have a couple of questions, they might sound basic, but I have been struggling with them a bit. I need to construct a car with a spoiler for my task.

1. The car model I have already made (it is quite basic), but I cannot figure out how to make a spoiler/rear-wing and then also attach it to my car model. Does anyone have any tips on how to create one and then attach it?
2. Once that is done, I would also have to change the angle of attack of this spoiler for my experiment. Is there an easy way of manipulating the spoiler's angle once that is added to the car? Or is there a tool that measures the angle of the inclination of the spoiler?

Any help, suggestion, tip, or trick is very much appreciated!
Thank you

    Hi @nick_giuliani, welcome to Onshape!

The spoiler will most likely require either an Extrude if it is basic, Sweep if it is curved a bit, or Loft if it has an advanced profile. Depending on which of these you go with, you will need to create profile and guide sketches. I recommend following the Onshape Learning Pathways to become efficient with Onshape.

Changing the angle can be applied either by changing the profiles or by rotating the part afterwards with a Transform. This process will also vary depending on if you are building all this in a part studio, or placing the components in an assembly.

Please share a link to your document as well as pictures of what kind of spoiler you are going for so that we can help you more specifically.
