quick way to render out all configurations of an assembly.

Hi,
I need to render all configurationsof a specific assembly for a catalog. Is there a quick way to do so?
Also mapping/ assigning appearances based on materials of the parts.
Now I need to go one by one on each of the configurations and manually changing the appearance..
I can imagine doing somthing more usefull thing during the next few hours/ days ;-)
