Apearence to Material

Is there a way I can assign an appearance to a material?  I find myself changing appearance and material quite a bit for several products we produce. Is there a way I can assign an appearance to a material? E.G When I assign something to be carbon steel it'll default the appearance to a hex code of my determining?

If you find out, let me know, I'm also interested.
I believe that materials should come with a proprietary default colour. This would also make visually checking material assignments a bit easier. Sometimes I forget to select a part, but would immediatly see if say one of a dozen bolts hasn't turned pink but stayed green when I bulk assigned a material.

you can establish default appearances for materials in various software or design tools used for product modeling.

For instance, in CAD software like SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor:

Materials Library: These tools have material libraries where you can associate specific appearances or textures with materials.
Customization: You can create custom materials or edit existing ones, setting default appearances by linking them to specific materials.
Assigning Appearances: Within the material editor, associate a hex code or a predefined appearance to the material (like carbon steel).
This ensures that whenever you assign that material to a part or product, it automatically adopts the predetermined appearance, streamlining your design process. Consult the software's documentation or support resources for detailed instructions on material and appearance customization.

In design software like SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor, link appearances to materials within their libraries. Customize or create materials, associating specific appearances or hex codes. Upon assigning a material, the designated appearance automatically applies, streamlining repetitive design modifications.
