how to do mates for Gear dogs?

1. how to stop gear dog going through gear unless the angle of the slots match
2. how to make the gear spin with the dog when the slots are engaged with each other
any help with this would be great, if its even possible, i found an old post saying intermittent mates were unsuported, however im hoping this may have progressed since 2018, or there is a different way to do this.
