part moved to another document is broken

I accidentally created a derived part in the wrong document.  I tried to move the part and its source part studio (include referenced tab) to the correct document.  I accidentally hit move before selecting the correct document so it moved it out of the current document and into an new "untitled document".  Not what I wanted but everything looks to be working.

Now I try to move from this new untitled document to the correct document and it appears to work.  I see the two part studios show up in the intended document and disappear from the untitled document.  No errors are reported.  But when I select either part studio there are no parts in either.  Both have the import icon red that says failed to import.  I recovered the part studios in the untitled document by restoring to main and still everything in that document looks fine and is working.  Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

So I managed to get this working.  I went back to the original document and created a version before I moved the parts out, and merged to Main, thus restoring those parts.  I then moved from here to the intended document and it works.

What I now realize is the original data source was an imported STEP file.  I had already deleted the STEP file before moving the parts as in my first post.  Therefore I only moved the imported/translated part studio and the derived part studio to the new untitled document and no other tab.  Interestingly that works.  But for some reason a second move from untitled to a third document does not work (I tried a second time with the same bad results), possibly because it is missing that STEP file?  So when I created a version in the first document I went back before I deleted the STEP and then when I moved to the intended document it included two referenced tabs (three total tabs moved), the source part studio and the STEP.  Not sure why this works now because the untitled document is fully functional without any STEP file.  I wouldn't think the STEP is needed or ever referenced again once it has been imported and translated.

    Hi,

    what I know is the
translated file from an imported STEP always needs the original STEP. Some time ago, I also experienced not being able to move a part from one document to another, and the reason was that you can never leave a document empty. It was enough to create a new empty partstudio in the original document and move the desired part along with its original step to the target document.
