Wrapping a Loft around a Cylinder

So I made these 2 diamonds and connected them with a loft and now I want to wrap this loft around a cylinder so that way I have a pattern on there. I've successfully gotten the back of the loft to wrap around the cylinder using the wrap tool but since the smaller diamond is supposed to be 3 mm away from the cylinder after I wrap it I can't get the loft tool to work. Is thispossible? Or am I making my life hard?

Are you trying to make the little grippy diamonds? In machining terms, this is called knurling. If you are 3D Printing or simply want it to look cool, you can use Texture for a "one click" solution to speed up this process. If you plan to machine it on a lathe, you will need an approach more like this:
