Cutting out text for a cnc laser

I have a cnc laser that I'm going to use to cut out a bracket that has text in it. I would like to have certain portions of text, the inside of certain letters like o or g for example, to stay in place. I can't figure out how to draw a tab that the software will recognize as holding those inside parts in place. This is an active sheetmetal model so you can't use boolean, any thoughts?
