How to keep the ability to use mates like revolute in subassembly areas to higher level assemblies?

Hi, I am not too great with the assembly function of Onshape yet as I have been only doing this recently with my school. I am trying to Circular Pattern this leg to make a tripod base. Every time I do, I lose the ability of the other mates that shouldn't be fixed but they are. Is there any way around it as I need to get the Arms to turn so I can make it appear as if it is set up as a tripod, not just a centre piece and 3 bars attached loosely to it?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
