Union not working on my design

I am sure there is a way I could have done all this in a better way. First time using onshape. I have tried some other software a few times, but not proficient in anything, so I am sure I have either done something wrong or it could have been done better.

Boolean 2 is causing me problems. I want to join Part 1 and Part 10 (This is a join of parts 2-9) together, but it fails.

Plan on 3d printing part, so would like it to be done properly.

Extend the outer faces a bit. The mesh is not 100% even on the boundary faces.

I would like to know what was wrong with it, but I don't need it anymore.

I found an addon called grid extruder. I created the basic grid with it and completely re did the part and it looks like it worked. I will not know for sure until I get it sliced and printed but didn't run into any errors.

The part I was using that I linked above, came from an old part I had done in another software and was trying to edit it.
