Duplicating a Render Studio removes its face appearances?

Kai_SchusterKai_Schuster Member Posts: 5
I have a part that has around 8 configurations. Every time I change the configuration of the part in the render studio, it loses the appearances that I've assigned to faces. Only the appearances assigned to entire parts remain.

I figured I would just make 8 different render studios, one for each configuration, so that the appearance configuration would remain frozen for each. When I duplicate the render studio, however, I get the same results - all face appearances get eliminated without ever changing the part configuration.

Do I have to painstakingly assign the same face appearances for all 8 configurations manually or am I missing something here?

@Kai_Schuster is if was a Render Studio tab that you made and assigned the appearances to before the last release you might have been affected by a bug which could cause appearance assignments to be lost when duplicating the tab. You can do a quick test just making a Render Studio, inserting an Assembly, assigning a couple of materials and then duplicating the tab and checking if the appearances are retained, they definitely should be.

In theory appearances can also be retained across configuration changes, depending on the nature of the configuration changes. Some configuration changes could affect the geometry enough that we are not able to determine where the previous appearances should be assigned in the new configuration. However if for example the configuration just changes the height of an extrude or something like this that should work. It's when the topology changes significantly that you might start to get issues (particularly if using face, rather than part appearances).

If you can test that out on a smaller scale first with a new Render Studio tab and if it isn't working please make a ticket for that so we can investigate further with your document.
