Unable to remove from Gear Lab FS Bevel Gear w/ angle over 68 degrees

Trying to add a bore to a part created with Gear Lab FS it generates the gear but on any gear with a bevel angle greater than 68 degrees trying various methods (extrude remove, boolean remove, or even intersect) do not seem to produce valid geometry (example) I have managed to get it to produce valid geometry using a Split Face however.
I have also managed to get it to produce non manifold geometry, the simplest way is to create a bore in a gear with a bevel angle set to over 68 degrees.
Obviously the Split Face solution is a viable work around but this doesn't feel like proper behavior, and the generation of non-manifold parts is odd.
