Chisel (New Custom Feature!)

Chisel allows you to:

  • Freehand chisel your part in real-time to give it that custom wood look.

Fun fact :)

Chisel and Draw are currently the only two features in Onshape that allow you to do real-time freehand geometry editing.

Whoa, this is really cool! Would it be easy to make this do the opposite, in other words, add the spherical shape rather than subtract? I could see this potentially working for adding fake welds to a project for visualization.

Thanks my dudes! B)  It's pretty niche, but provides some great hand made looks when you need them.

@Rhett_Robinson I just pushed an update to Draw for you. This will give you the option to create the spheres rather than removing them. It also spaces them evenly instead of at the whims of edit logic, this way you have a more consistent dotted sphere line. However if you are using it for welds, it would probably be better to use Evan's Freeform spline and make a simple feature that patterns spheres along an edge. This way you aren't having to trace the part with Draw each time.

@MichaelPascoe thanks! Thanks for the suggestion about Evan's FS as well, we do a lot of 3D prints that need realistic-ish welds and something like this workflow may be the ticket.

Let me tell you that I scrolled by that render thinking it was a picture, if @bryan_lagrange had not pointed it out I would have never known.

    Really neat feature!
