Trying to fill a space

Hello friends. Im new to Onshape. Im trying to make this thumb tightener (see pics). I did all the lines in a single sketch so they are all on the same plane. Had no issue extruding the center portion, But it would not let me extrude the profile as a solid,. It would only allow as a surface. I figured there must be some tool to fill it. But everytime I try to fill it with tools Im getting the red flag. How might I be able to fill this and finish the part off?

Perhaps you are selecting the outlone to extrude, rather than the region within it?
