add a plane to an edge not working

i have inserted an assembly from a different document to my assembly and then created an in-context part where i will be playing with ideas of how i will build a fixture which will be interfacing with this existing assembly. I want to choose the circular edge of an existing part of geometry to create a plane on which i can then start sketching. The problem is none of the plane options will actually create a plane. Doing the same thing in solidworks instantly creates a plane. I have attached images showing this. What am i doing wrong? cheers

Use mate connector from the sketch dialog.

Hi Glen, thanks for replying. I tried to put a mate connector on there, but it asks for an owner entity and since i am still trying to create something, there is nothing to own the mate connector… EDIT: Sorry i just learnt you can un-select the owner check-box. All is good now. cheers
