Tool entity cannot split the part

I am splitting a complex part with a plane, and got this obscure error: "Tool entity cannot split the part"

Could anybody help me debug this issue?

I made 3 point plane on the center of the gear teeth. When checking the difference between front plane and new plane there is no difference showing. New plane will split the part. I wonder if there is some difference that is small beyond measuring tool and what is being calculated leaving a nonmanifold geometry condition?

That's interesting. I created an offset plane .01mm from the front plane and that works. - Scotty
