Cannot follow steps in the Mating Assembly Components lesson, Exercise : Basic assembly

kenneth_croftkenneth_croft Member Posts: 11

I am trying to follow the exercises on Mating Assembly Components, Exercise: Basic assembly, but I have barely got started. With no explanation at all slide 5 has components that appear to be assembled, then in slide 6 the parts as separate, with no explanation. Then from slide 6 to slide 7 with no explanation, the Plunger and Swing arm have appeared and other components have gone, again with no explanation. In the course so far all the instructions and slides have been excellent, but this set is just something I cannot follow. What on earth is going on here?

On Slide 4, you are dropping in all of the parts from the part studio into your assembly. They come in as modeled in the Part Studio, but with no assembly constraints.

On Slide 5, they are still in those positions, as modeled but with no assembly constraints. Here you Fix one of the parts in space. The others are fee to move.

On Slide 6, three of the parts have been dragged away from their original positions.

On Slide 7, for simplicity, three of the parts have been hidden (as indicated by their grayed out titles in the Instances list).

On Slide 8, for simplicity, two parts are hidden. Only the parts relevant to the step are shown.
