Linear dimension by two points and line direction

How to dimension the length of this piece of timber, using two points? I tried all options but none worked.

If you want an aligned dimension you need to move your mouse further away, perpendicular to the alignment of your dimension. Try zooming out.

Onshape support have told me a change is in the works to make this behaviour more intuitive.

You can add a construction line perpendicular to the 45 deg line at one of the end points, then dimension to this construction line. It's kind of a clunky workaround, but will get you there. And yes, Onshape should have a look at this.

Hi Oliver, that does not work, as the points are not aligned with the direction of the timber.

Hi Rick, one of the shortfalls compared to SW, it would be great if we could dimension using two points and a direction.

Onshape developers, please add to improvement oppertunities. Thanks, Gerard
