What is the secret behind adding a link in a comment?

rafael_telgmannrafael_telgmann Member Posts: 125 ✭✭✭

Since the update of this forum, my links (and not only mine) are displayed as text in the comments. Even when I define them as links.
I am wondering because it is clearly possible to insert a link as a link. There are examples, but it is also clear that many users are struggling with me on this issue because many links in comments are plain text.
What am I doing wrong?

    Defining a link.

    I find that I need to pause for a fraction of a second when hitting enter/return in the link definition window. If it doesn't turn the text blue in the preview, try again. Sometimes it will add the link at the beginning of the post even if it should be somewhere else. It's definitely flakey, but it does work.

    OK guys, thanks a lot. I now know what was going on. I was already using S1mons method, but I never changed the "text to display". In this case, as you can see in my post above, the link is broken. If I change the text, it works. Strange behaviour.
    Thank you all for your help!

    Thanks S1mon. I had gotten a link to post once and haven't been able to find it since.

    @glen_dewsbury and @rafael_telgmann

    Down below in the comment box, are four icons, click the one 2nd from the right (rectangle with arrow symbols - reads insert media) - and copy/paste URL. after that you will get what looks like a warning, with several boxes to choose from, click on the one that has only a horizontal line (it reads change to text - this is what I kept missing). that should do it. Works for me, even if it's the wrong way. Actually, this may be S1mon's method (but looks and works a little different than his video).

    here's a link that used that method (just eye candy). Click on it and see if it gives you the proper action.

    Note the link does not work inside of quotes - only the original post

    I made a conversion cowl for one of these engines a few years ago. End customer bought a used commercial engine that included the front cowl and built a plug in place between the existing cowl and fire wall of the plane to make a mold from. Was fun doing the development and seeing a happy customer. Don't know if it flying yet. Customer got dragged on more pressing matters than the Murphy Moose and I haven't been back in the area lately. A lot of power for the plane.

    BTW the link worked.

    @glen_dewsbury - Hey Glen, that PT-6a, I modeled in inventor (it translated easily into Onshape) for this prototype aircraft that I'm standing in front of. I got to do a lot of design work on this (fuselage,wing attach,landing gear attach, control linkages, canopy and more). Ahh the good old days - anyway this is my first attempt at attaching an image . This is the one and only photo I have of this aircraft
