How do I select an area defined by multiple lines?

I'm trying to select the area defined by the two circles and two lines so I can extrude it. How would I do this? My ultimate goal is to make a gear.

Use the Use tool to add the outer edge to your sketch. Then you'll have an enclosed region to select.

I get wanting to make your own gears, but as the other user said, the Spur Gear custom feature might save you time.

there is a gear custom feature in case you don't want to reinvent the wheel. If you doing it for exercise, respect. The extrude feature should let you select that area among all the other closed in areas as well.
