REVIEW EXERCISES WITHIN A CLASS

Within the program, I created a class and invited my students to join. I assigned exercises, and they shared their work with me through the same platform. The issue is that, by doing it this way, students can see all the documents in the class (created by themselves and their peers) and copy them. The ownership is listed under the name of the created class, not the person who created the file, so I cannot track the work and identify who the real author is and who has taken advantage of someone else’s work.

Hi Carla. If you are using Onshape Classes & Assignments, students should not be able to see all documents created by their peers. If you create a class, add students to the class, then create assignments, each student will see the class listed in their classes section and they will have access to the assignments. Once they begin an assignment, a document will be created for them and shared with you, the educator. The document will be owned by the Classroom, but it will not be visible to other students unless someone shares the document with the Classroom.

In the first picture below, you can see that the selected document is owned by the Classroom. Under the sharing settings, you can see that the student (student53) has full permissions on the document and the document has been shared with the two educators in the class (drshields is the teacher and student47 is the teaching assistant).

In the second picture below, the document has also been shared with the Classroom. This document will be visible to all students in the Classroom. Make sure your students are not sharing their documents with the Classroom, unless you want all students to be able to see the document.
