Sharing a file/making copies in classroom

Hi all, I'm really new to using onshape and trying to incorporate it in to some textiles lessons. I want to do a trainer design project and design an outsole in Onshape. I have a dxf drawing which I would like to input to give the kids the outline shape so that they can draw simple shapes and extrude to make different treads on the sole. It's pretty basic stuff but it's just to get them introduced to it. What I'm wondering is whether there is a way for me to put the dxf shoe sole outline into onshape classroom and they somehow copy it and all work on their own versions. Thanks :)

Yes! That is why we made Classes & Assignments. In your Onshape Classroom, create a new Class and add your students. Then create a new Assignment. Each assignment has one of three submission options:

    1. Students begin with a new document.
    2. Students start with a copy of a selected document.
    3. Students can choose what to submit.

Using submission option 2, you can attach an existing document, often called a starter doc, to the assignment. When students begin the assignment, a copy of the starter doc will be created for the student. In your case, you would create an Onshape document, import the DXF into the document, then attach that document to an assignment, using submission option 2.

Amazing, that's exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks for the reply, I will go and investigate!

Hi Matt, when I try to add a class, I do not have that option, but I am set up as an educator. Is this function available with the free educator version or is it paid content?

    Thanks

HI Matt, thank you. I have the free educator login, is the setting up a class available with this or is it paid content? I cannot see the option for me to set up a class.. Thanks
