What determines when a line can be used as "rip edge" for the flatten feature?
I'm having a hard time parsing when a line is able to be used as a rip edge. I've created a 3d loft and projected lines to the surface (and in some instances split the faces with said lines. Still I can't get some lines to highlight for rip edge.
Loft / Sketch / Project / Split Faces / Flatten
I can highlight some of the edges but not all of them. Creating a break in the lines avoids an error, so I take it I can't split contiguous subsections
But I still can't get the horizontal line across the top to select. Even with a gap. So I think I'm missing some deeper understanding

Ok I was able to accomplish my goal by splitting the part via surfaces. It's a lot of mouse clicks and additional complexity but it works. I'm still curious about the initial question. The face split on the top of the loft has been tricky to work around for even less complex darts.
