Problems merging parts

Hi there,
I am very new to 3d modeling so my issue might be just that I dont know where to look.
I am trying to merge parts in part studio with the boolean function and there seems to be a problem with it. I cant figure out what is the issue or how to merge the parts together.
I am trying to make box for a gift so my next step would be to hollow it out, divide and think of something to cennect the (probably magnets).

Boolean should work in this case. I got it to work after simplying Sketch 5.

Many thanks for the tip Matt, it is really appreciated.
I was wondering why do you have to merge it in 3 steps - first half, second half and then both together - just to understand the principle to not to make same mistakes over and over.

I wish I had a solid rhyme or reason. Sometimes when I'm asking Onshape (or really any software) to do something intense and it doesn't work, I just scale back my demands a bit 😉.
