Trying to create a helix with a starting point

LuxanLuxan Member Posts: 2

I'm reasonably new to OnShape and trying to improve my skills. I'm testing myself with threads and having difficulty trying to specify a starting point for a helix.

The picture shows a point which I've placed on sketch 1 which is a specific distance above the red line (red). When I try to specify that point as the start of the helix it doesn't like it.

Any assistance on how I can set that starting point would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The start point just controls the angle of the start point, so it needs to fall on the same plane as the start. If you mouse over the red "Helix 1" on your feature name you'll see an error message.

To get it to start on the same point as that plane you could use the Axis or Circle mode instead or split the face of your revolve where it should start.
