Reason for body draft failure?

Body draft seems to be a fancy feature, but I never get it work.

Here are 2 examples.

Example 1:

Body part fails to generate unless those 2 surfaces under red lines are excluded.

On the other hand, draft command can finish the same task as expected.

Example 2:

When there is a step, body draft does not work unless I exclude the plane under red line

On the other hand, native draft feature finishes the task correctly

Does anyone know how and why body draft reports errors on these cases?

I am with high interest with this feature but do not know how to use it correctly.

There's pretty much zero need for body draft here. Body draft is really for much more complex shapes which would normally need a lot of extra work to construct appropriate drafted area. See the examples section of the help here:

Hi, thanks for the reply.

These are my simplified examples to show how body draft fails.

My actual model is much more complex, bunch of combinations of these 2, and of course body draft fails.

I read the tutorial before. It demonstrates some successful cases but does not answer to my question.

Added tags:

V1 - Body draft failed on part 1 → I do not know why it reports error on those surfaces

V2 - Native draft success on part 1 → This is what I expect body draft can do

V3 - Body draft success on part 1 when faces excluded

V4 - Body draft failed on part 2 → I do not know why it reports error on those surfaces

V5 - Native draft success on part 2 → This is what I expect body draft can do

V6 - Body draft success on part 2 when faces excluded
