Non public document

ProApeProApe Member Posts: 72

Hi,

I would like to make signs in Onshape with my name, address and phone number.

Is there a way that other people won't see them as I don't want to make those data public?

Kind regards

That'd most probably be a paid plan, I'm afraid. Or be super fast, make and delete them before anybody notices …

But the document is only visible when I close it, isn't it? So I could export as stl for printing, delete the text and then close the document. Then nobody could see the text.

    Another problem:
I can't reduce the 4 lines I need to fit on the sign.

Yeah, what Martin said, or you can simply give your work a name that is coded. Some obscure random collection of letters, numbers, or symbols. This will get lost in the list of public data - effectively making it doubtful that anyone would ever see it. But it would still be public, so if you're not comfortable having that out there - don't do it.

"… or you can simply give your work a name that is coded."
you mean so that it won't be found in a search because the name is cryptic and has no meaning?

    Again to my questions:
if I make a sign with my name, I export it as stl, I delete the name again before I close the document, then no one can see the text! Is that correct?
How can I reduce a text that consists of several lines so that it fits on the sign; strangely enough, you can't select the font size when creating the text. And any editing seems to work only on the first line.

use the transform tool to scale your text in sketch mode. and yes if you delete the text sketch or change the text to say something different after you export the stl. its gone. The history of your doc is saved and you can go back to prior to that deletion if you would want to. When another person copies a document… they get a fresh history with nothing in the history to go back to.

"…use the transform tool to scale your text in sketch mode".

I don't really understand what you mean. I have created a sketch on the surface of the sign, selected the text tool, entered the text, selected the Transform tool, but I may select only the first line and what more is, I don't sea how to scale down the text with that tool.

the tool allows you to select as many items as you want to scale, move, rotate. for text you only need to select one line. it'll scale all the letters within the contruction lines. the site learn.onshape.com will have a plethora of info to help you get more familiar with different tools
