Managing and Referencing Associated files to a Part or Drawing or Assembly

How do you manage or reference associated files to a Part or Drawing or Assembly?
Engineering does not create 'artwork'; however, we need to reference it on our drawings.
Also, many of our packaging items do not have 'part files' as they are made from .pdf or .ai (Illustrator) files / Die Lines, that we do not create but need an associated Part Number for.
For Packaging Items created from a Die Line, this is what I started to do:
- Create a Drawing file and assign it a part number, DRW_123456,
- I would then import the Die Line file into the workspace.
- Assign a part number to the Die Line, DIE LINE_123456
- Onshape is very limited as to numbering schemes for releasable items.
- Not sure if this is OK but it seems to work.
- I would add an image of a Die Line to the Drawing.
- In the Drawing Notes I would reference the imported Die Line file, DIE LINE_1213456
- If the Item has Artwork that gets printed on it, in the Drawing Notes, I would then reference the Artwork file.
- Finally, Release the Drawing and Die Line file.
One issue I have is I cannot see the DIE LINE_xxxxxx files, or any ‘FILE’ in list view in order to see what FILES are Released and their Revisions.
