Print a sheet metal flat pattern

Dross_Studios01Dross_Studios01 Member Posts: 4

Hey, I'm probably just being obtuse, but I'm trying to figure out how to take the flat pattern of a sheet metal part and print it out on paper so I can make a direct-to-metal transfer to sheet metal and fab it up in my shop.

I've worked up the part and modeled all of the bends, cuts, holes, etc., and now I have the flat pattern, but I'm struggling to find the steps to take and print it out.

Any assistance with this process is appreciated.

you could make a 2D drawing, scale 1:1 of the flat pattern.

Unfortunately, this doesn't exactly help me because "print sheet metal pattern" isn't exactly an option on any drop-down menus.

Right click on the flat pattern geometry. Pick create "create drawing of flat pattern…". Make drawing. Right click on the drawing's name tab on the bottom of the screen. Select export. Pick pdf as the format. Open the file in your pdf viewer. Print it from there making sure to set the scale to 100% in the print dialog,

You could use the Flat Pattern feature by @Caden_Armstrong

You don't even need a custom feature or a drawing. Just open the flat pattern and right click in the flat pattern area → "export as dxf".
If you store as a new tab, the Ares Kudo viewer has a "print to PDF" option. Or use another DXF viewer to print it out.
