Best way of limiting to certain kind of materials

For example I want to build a chair out of 40x20mm square tubing. Is there a good way of limiting myself to only use this material when building up a sketch? And to later know how many meters worth of the material was used (or get a cut list)
And the next question would be if it's possible to limit myself to the amount of material I have. ie i have only 2 pieces of 3000mm worth of material,
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before but for now I didn't find a good answer yet, and i'm also pretty new to this.

The easiest way to do this is with the Frame features. You can learn how to use them here: https://learn.onshape.com/courses/frames-fundamentals
About your second question. Yes, you can use equations, variables, and custom features to have your part studio cut list optimized to fit a specific length of material.

You want to use the "frame" tools (I suggest going through the learning center)…
