Trouble adding students who already have an account

I have students who already have an account for their school classes and I want to add them to my robotics team class. I’ve sent invites to the email address they use for their school account, but nothing shows up for the team when they log in.
I am not a teacher at the school, just a coach for the team, so the team is setup as a separate school and class in OnShape. Can student accounts only be associated with one school at a time?
