Revolute mates in gears

I have a drive train model in which I have mated the connected gears using gear relation of the respective revolut mates of each gear. I however have a problem that the shaft does not rotate with the gears, it is as if the pin slot in the gear is not recognized by the shaft. How can I fix this? I have tried reorienting the mate between the gear and shaft but as soon as I animate or move the gear or shaft it does not rotate in sync

Assume the shaft and gear are separate parts… you need to mate the two together (shaft and gear) using a fastened mate. The revolute mate would then be applied to the shaft and whatever it is attached to…
