threadCreator not working properly

bob_puttenbob_putten Member Posts: 4

In document https://cad.onshape.com/documents/eae77ff6b709a687402eeb0a/w/9d61b97522d17e0164e626c4/e/b94b7c1f4fd442b1e027261e I created a bolt and nut to test the threadCreator.
The bold is made by a rouind ax, 30mm. I then created thread ANSI ACME, 4mm pitch, full threaded, start 45 degr by means of the threadCreator tool.
The nut has an hole of original 30mm I then created thread ANSI ACME, 4mm pitch, full threaded, also by means of the threadCreator tool.
After 3D printing, they do not match. I changed the hole of the nut to 31mm, not fitting, even a hole of 31.5 mm does not work. The bold and nut get stuck after about one turn.
What did I do wrong?

I think the tread creator for the hole adds material into the hole, not takes it away from the material around the hole. There has been discussion around this before.

If you can do the hole and shaft in the same part studio the easiest way is to put a threads k one of them and the boolian subtract with a slight offset for clearance on the other.

There has also been a 3D print thread feature put up on these boards recently which does a niece course thread and dosnt need supports.

    Hi, thanks fot the reply.
The boolean aproach was the first test with this design. That was not working as expected either.
