Onshape Mobile slower than web browser.

allenftcallenftc Member Posts: 2 EDU

I have a Pixel 7 Pro, and I have noticed that Onshape mobile in the app is very laggy, like 10fps. The same assembly, in the web browser (still on the phone) has very little noticeable lag and even feels a lot smoother than on my computer at times. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yes, and since my browswer has kind of an SAAS mode, where all browser GUI elements disappear and only the pure application shows in the window, I have been wondering why there needs to be an app at all. IMO the app limits a basically OS agnostic cloud service to certain brands of devices, which I find contradictory to the concept. I'd have expected the server to detect the screen size or device type and serve up a mobile compatible layout when necessary.

That would also help people opening shared links on mobile, for they could do so on the fly, without having to load and register an app first.
