Imported a Solidworks assembly zip. Copied & modded a part. Assembly is gone.

I imported a display case sliding glass door assembly zip into Onshape. I needed to make 3D printed jigs so I can router out slots and holes in a real life scenario. I was doing the work in Solidworks with a perpetual license but decided to give onshape a test since this is an important project and I wanted to put Onshape through the paces I expect in order to do CAD successfully.

Unfortunately I ran into a snag. I opened the assembly and copied a part that I did not want to affect the original all in Onshape. I began modifying the part and inadvertently double clicked on the part and it became isolated from the entire assembly and I just thought this was a feature of Onshape. I made mods to the part and saved it as a Step file to allow for 3D printing. When I went to make another part inside the assembly, the part was the only sole lone part. No assembly at all. I even went to the list of actions I had done and there is no link at all back to the original assembly. I could open the zip assembly again and it opened but the modified part was not a part of it.

What did I do incorrectly?

How do I put the modified part back into the assembly?

Double-clicking a part creates an in-context edit. Your assembly is still there, just in another tab in your document.

I found the answer by accident. The part is Not in another Tab at the bottom. There is an IN-CONTEXT pull down menu. Mine says NONE but if you click on the pull down it shows the Original Assembly is Selectable and it brings the main assembly back. See attachment.

On another note, is there any way to get someone to help me in real time over the phone or on my computer remotely so if anything like this happens in the future?

Did you look into the CAD Imports folder tab at the bottom?

One of the sexy things with Onshape is you can collaborate online in real time. If you find someone to phone (or open a video chat with) real time help should be no issue at all.
