Curve resolution

jaume_martinjaume_martin Member Posts: 4

Hi all,

I am quite new to Onhape and I don't know how to solve the following issue I am facing.

I build an easy model (see images below) which has small resolution on the curve it is like more polygons are needed. I know that can be soled in OpenSCAP by incrementing the $fn variable, but I am not able to see that option in Onshape.

I have to say that the model in Onshape looks smooth, shinny without those lines. The issue happens when I import the model in the 3D printer slicer.

The issue your having occurs when you export the file from onshape. you must set the resolution to fine or even to custom to increase the number of flats on a curve to a point that its imperceptible that there are even flats there.

    Thank you for your answer.

I found the solution playing with the export functionality. Exporting it as 3MF with fine resolution improves results in the slicer, however, exporting as STEP I could improve the results even more than using the 3MF with the fine resolution. The trick was on the loading process in the slicer, where I could define how precise the STEP resolution must be.

You can get it even better by using custom settings on export from onshape.
