Can I Configure an External Thread's Size and Pitch?

I have a model of a threaded rod that is configured in both length and diameter. The challenge I'm facing is that I cannot get the size and pitch to follow the diameter of the threaded rod. I get the tool tip "this feature does not support being configured". I don't really want to have a bunch of suppressed External Thread features, suppressed/unsuppressed according to the diameter of the threaded rod.
What am I missing?
As soon as I change to the M10 threaded rod, the External thread feature breaks!

I got this to work but it's a bit funky
I was expecting the thread selection to change when the cylinder diameter changed, but no. Had to reselect the cylinder after it was modified and make configuration for each to suppress the others. Can make a lot of configurations once the length is added. If you're making a lot of these maybe you might want to ask this question of support
