Tangent mate

wojciech_wagawojciech_waga Member Posts: 2

Hi. I want to check if a particular car can get into a steep underground parking. I traced the silhouette of the car as one part and the ramp as another one. I thought I can use tangent mate between wheels and the ramp to animate car going down and visually check for collisions. It turned out that I cannot use tangent mate for multi face surface. I used a spline and it's better but I'm still struggling to get it to work. What's wrong: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a9f0ee455b373127ffb127c3/w/ce29a2093246e4bc4c132d20/e/8e455be8113a168d12350c38?renderMode=0&uiState=691886d1d9d7516ce59ca875

Which mate will keep the car in one "plane" with the ramp horizontally?

Making a separate assembly consisting of the two wheels and the body of the car allowed for the tangent mates to work with the wheels and not the entire 'car'. There's still an odd problem when a wheel hits the small step in the ramp, but I think the assembly will suffice. - Scotty
