Is there a way to install new fonts into Onshape?

I have a need to laser etch a logo into some sheet metal parts. In MS Word I have created the logo with the font of my choice. I expect I can use the image to create the laser etch but it would be much simpler to install a new font into Onshape. Then I could simply use the text tool to created the etching in the parts. I see some posts on the subject but they look outdated.

Wish we could import fonts. Wonder if there was a feature script way to do it. Would have to turn this over to the feature script greats to see if possible. @Derek_Van_Allen_BD @MichaelPascoe @Caden_Armstrong @EvanReese @ry_gb @karl_mochel

I'll admit to have been looking into this recently after seeing that SVG importer script but I don't think the geometric encoding in a .ttf file is nearly as straightforward as your average .SVG. I know @MichaelPascoe's text feature put some effort into looking for a .dxf based solution but I haven't seen him work on it for awhile.

It could be argued whether Word was the tool of choice to design logos, to begin with. Add to that Word lacks almost all the necessary editing, conversion and export options, then it comes clear one should at least use the simplest of illustration tools available, rather than Word. If one did that, there would not be any need to load additional fonts in Onshape at all, because such applications would access system fonts to work with, and then export shapes of a logo as paths, splines, curves, whatever one may call it. Things Onshape can work with.

That said, it would still be nice if Onshape could use system fonts or load additional fonts, because that would make it easier to meet corporate design requirements of certain clients. A minor issue, though.

@martin_kopplow realistically the thing I'd do most often with a font import tool for Onshape is wingdings graffiti my coworkers documents without their knowledge. It's one of the things I miss most about Solidworks.

I have started on projects for much dumber reasons, so I might dig a little deeper into TTF and OTF encoding and see if it's feasible.

I've got a backlog item for a tool like this. Basically requires exporting a font file as dxf or svg, and making a text feature that supports those extracted fonts. It's possible, but not a trivial amount of work. I can add it to the Renaissance wish list.
