Custom BOM showing only some parts of an assembly

Is there a way to generate a custom BOM on a top level assembly that only shows parts with a certain property?
For context, I am trying to create drawings of top level assemblies that may contain 50-100 parts, some of which are inside of sub assemblies, and on these drawings there would be a BOM showing only those parts designated as wear parts (bearings, sprockets etc..). Then I could use various views to indicate where these parts are located in the top level assembly.
Is this possible with a custom table feature script or some other method?
