Replace instances of a linear pattern with new part or configuration

Hello!
I am trying to make a configurable grid. I have a single cell designed up and have configurations controlling the length and width. The grid can be 1x1 up to 6x6. I am trying to change the configurations of the corner instances to a configuration of the base cell with a rounded corner. I am also trying to add a configuration that will add a notch to the corners and the center of each side. The issue I am running into is the number of permutations to just hard code replacements is extensive and I am hoping of someone who has done something similar or could give me some tips.
