Cannot select a vertex on a mesh

Hey, just loaded up a scanned mesh to have as a reference. Scaling the mesh down made me unable to select any vertices. Gradually scaling up makes it so i cant choose some, letting me select only some vertices. Is there a way to fix this? I guess the only workaround is just to scale the model 10x and then scale the finished part down 10x

What file size is the mesh? or triangle count?
