New FeatureScript: Cut List Pro

Hello,

I've always wanted a simple to use tool for generating cut lists for weldments and decided to have a go at creating one. I came up with what I call Cut List Pro.

Cut List Pro eliminates the repetitive task of manually sorting structural members, producing cut lists in seconds. Sorts by member type, then size, then length. I've included several override functions and a manual drag to reorder, if needed. Adding additional items later are automatically sorted into position as well.

It's almost finished and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a temporary trial to provide me with feedback? Here's a video showing some of it's abilities.

Awesome! Our team has been needing something like this for a while. I would love to test it out and give feedback. One question: Is the finish category an attribute or custom property? One improvement I would make is to auto-make separate cut lists for each material, rather than a conglomeration, for the purpose of delivery.

This is pretty cool! Nice to have a single cutlist that can do both frames and generic parts.

The manual sorting is neat too, I used a similar technique for a client a while back and it worked well.

Not sure your aware but tables can have a custom UI too with buttons and sorting options. I don't see people using them often, there was a bug in how custom tables work, but its possible.

@tjones, the Finish is a custom field created for the cut list and interesting idea to split the cut list by material.

email me thru www.millerdesignservices.net. so I can give you a week trial.

We really need the Feature Store - (Improvement Request) to show off things like this. Actually we need it for any kind of feature sharing paid or free. Would make it so much easier to get them out there.

Yes! @MichaelPascoe I'm currently working on adding a page to my website for featurescripts, but I'd really like to have a Feature Store for everyone to use.

@MIL_TFP_41 Hi! Just checking that you received my email with the Cut List Pro trial details. If you don't see it, it may have landed in your spam folder. If not, let me know and I'll resend it.

Does it work even if frames are cut using a Boolean ?
The classical Cut List fails to generate when frames have both ends being edited or cut off.

    Like here.

I'm open to test, I also understand that you would like to be paid for your work.
I just wish you would release a community version with super basic features but that support frames being cut before the cut list. That would be awesome.
I can see how professional use would need the other features you implemented anyway and would be willing to pay anyway.

@Patrix87 I tested it and it was able handle parts that are boolean cut. I'd be happy to give you a one week trial if you'd like to test and give me some feedback. You can sign up at www.millerdesignservices.net/feature-scripts
