creating venting holes on a rounded surface

Hi Brains trust.

I'm trying to make a cover clip for a Cpap vent filter and although I could do it manually using planes and just extruding out each vent hole, I'm trying to learn how to kind of wrap a crurved surface with a pattern and then extrude that pattern out?

I've come across this a few times and being of the older generation and not totally up to snuff with all this stuff, I can't for the life of me work it out.

I;ve made plenty of repeat paterns before but I'm trying to place that pattern on a curved surface and extrude it does't seem to work for me anyway I try.

Im on;y using the basic free version so possibly that could be part of the issue, the tool not being available.

Anyway, any advice would very gladdly be accepted.

Cheers Damo

Hey Damo, this is possible but there are a few different ways to do it. We will need a link to your document so that we can see the shape of the part and where your trying to apply the vent holes.

If the model is only bending along 1 axis and the part isn't too curved along other axis, then you can pattern the extrude along a curve. If its more complex, then it might require more advanced pattern techniques which we can show you.
