by extruding a 0.1 inch cylinder 12 inches long, creating a helix with 6 turns on the cylinder's surface, creating a second helix with 6 turns starting at 180 degrees, creating two circles of 0.02 inch diameter centered on the ends of the helixes, then sweeping each circle along its helix.
There is probably a much easier way. I'm very inexperienced with 3D CAD and Onshape.

1. draw a helix along a straight rod as below,
2. Create a Sweep by using helix as path and circle as cross section.
3. Pattern the wire.
