Can we declare custom snippets?

Not right now.

If you define top-level functions, types, enums, or constants, these will autocomplete just like everything in std does. You can also manipulate how these functions autocomplete by given it /** this style of documentation */ with @eg tags. Search through the standard library for examples of this.

But doesn't generalize to making custom snippets for arbitrary text.

Too bad. It would be useful to have, for example, and enum template that includes both the enum declaration and a function for mapping the enum elements to key value pairs. Ideally that would be one snippet in my library. I can copy/paste for now.
