How do I select a revolved surface as the merge scope?

I can't select the surface of a revolve in order to cut a hole in it from an offset plane. Is this possible?

Narayan_K Member Posts: 379 ✭✭✭@ ted_lawrence , As a work around you can split the surface using another surface. then you can delete the unwanted face by the help of delete face option.please refer below video,

Work around- You can perform thicken to surface by a small amount then boolean the resultant solids together.
