Why is my sweep failing?

I tried making a sweep cut, but it wasn't showing up right. I then clicked on add so I could see what it was trying to do and it gave me this. I then tried to move my sketch point to see if that was the problem and I got this. Any ideas of why it's behaving like this? I have another part on the other side of my part and it did the sweep cut just fine.

It looks like the helix profile somewhat resembles an hourglass ( y = abs(x) ). If that's the case, then the curve might be continuous in the middle, but not tangent. This might give the sweep feature a headach as it tries to round that curve.
