make a reces inside the lid to a box

how do i make a "stop" inside the lid for the box? I want it to start 5 mm. down and aprox 1 mm wide where the box will land and zero where the fillit start.
I have tried to thicken the wall but then I don't know what to do next.

Sounds like you want to make a lip. There are lots of ways to do this. Here are two straightforward methods. You can create a plane offset 5mm from the lid opening and extrude a profile of the box shape with a 1mm offset.Or, you can sweep a specific profile shape around the inner perimeter of the lid.
