Amateur Question: Simple explanation on how id´s work

Anybody can give a simple explanation on how id´s work?. I read the documentation 20 times and i cant figure it out :sweat:

    Id's are basically random numbers that uniquely identify a feature in the context of a FeatureScript. You can then add onto the id (e.g. id + "extrude" + i) to give your individual subfeatures a unique identifier you can use to reference them later in the FeatureScript.
